"If you're gun-shy about new music concerts, this might be just the restorative you need.
The singers are superb, and director Robert Geary manages to find his way to the warm heart of even the most
challenging modern score." -- Clark Suprynowicz, Berkeley Daily Planet

Nocturnes
Volti concludes its 31st season with the Bay Area premiere of the full version
(including the epilogue written just last year) of Morten Lauridsen's choral cycle,
Nocturnes.
Special guest artist: Morten Lauridsen, composer, will play the piano accompaniment to
his work.
In 2006, Morten Lauridsen was named an "American Choral Master" by the National
Endowment for the Arts, and in 2007 he received the National Medal of Arts "for his
composition of radiant choral works combining musical beauty, power and spiritual depth
that have thrilled audiences worldwide."
Also featured are premieres of Volti commissions by Robin Estrada and this year's Choral
Arts Laboratory competition winner, Ted Hearne.
**Friday only**: Volti is joined by special guest choirs from Acalanes High School,
Head Royce School, the Piedmont East Bay Children's Choir, and San Francisco School of
the Arts; participants in Volti's Choral Institute program.
